Testimonials for the book Giving Life

Several of the stories really tugged at my heart, especially the stories about the little ones. I guess Grandpa Graham has a really soft spot for them. I inherited my mother’s easy tears, so I had to fight them back while reading several of the stories.

The book is GREAT!

Reading this would be a good reality check for anyone contemplating living donation to be sure they are fully committed, for, while the rewards are many, such gifts are not without personal risk and he achieves a good balance in sharing such facts of donation and transplant life.  The events shared will inspire, and as was my own experience, bring tears of joy as the events unfold and you journey along with families facing real life uncertainties, doubts, hope and for most, joyful triumphs.  You will meet celebrities and the unknown, for life through transplant is truly the equalizer in a society too often balanced in favor of the rich, but not so here as you will read in story after story.  This book belongs in every medical waiting room for those waiting to read and enjoy, offering hope as they face their own medical challenges.

Jim Gleason
TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization)

What a fabulous collection of vignettes!  I really appreciated Aaron's candor about struggling with self-esteem and his awareness of his own developing maturity.  I was taken by the story of Jenna's mother and her struggle to find a donor.  I liked Angela's description of being a living donor as a life long commitment, and I was moved, saddened, and angered by her story!  Great work.

The stories are straightforward, written without sentimental overtones, and made all the more powerful by the factual recounting of the motivations that led to the transplant decision, the joy felt by the living donors and the comfort found by the families of legacy donors.

Giving Life is a must read for anyone whose life has been touched by transplantation or anyone who is curious about this subject. Falsey gives the human face to a cold medical equation and brings out the best of people in the worst of circumstances.

Kevin Vericker

Kidney Donor

I think you have a real winner here.
